Sean McBurney always makes sure to highlight the “entertainment” aspect of Caesars Entertainment. As the regional president overseeing eight resorts on the Strip, as well as the Caesars Forum convention center and Linq Promenade, McBurney plays a crucial role in the success of the Vegas-based resort corporation.
This summer has been particularly fruitful for Caesars Entertainment, with a strong lineup of theater headliners and the exciting news of The Killers performing in their first residency by a Las Vegas rock band at the company’s flagship property, Caesars Palace. Additionally, Spiegelworld, a Vegas-based production company, has introduced the comedy/interactive dance production “DiscoShow” at Linq Hotel, adding even more entertainment options for guests.
In a recent Q&A session, McBurney shared his thoughts and insights on the exciting developments at Caesars Entertainment:
Johnny Kats: You joined the company around the time that The Killers were rising to fame. What does it mean to you to have them performing at Caesars Palace?
Sean McBurney: We are thrilled to have The Killers performing at our property. It’s incredible to see a hometown band playing in the most iconic theater in Vegas. The fact that they have come full circle, starting in 2003 when the Colosseum opened and now, 20 years later, they are headlining there, is truly special.
Kats: It seems like the executives have a special connection to The Killers and their residency.
McBurney: We are definitely excited to have them here. Personally, I am a big fan, so it adds an extra level of excitement for me to see them perform at Caesars Palace.
Kats: When the opportunity to have The Killers at the Colosseum was presented to you, what was your initial reaction?
McBurney: The process of securing residencies like this involves building a relationship with the management over a long period of time. Having The Killers perform at the Colosseum has been a goal of ours for years, and I’ve been thinking about it for a long time.
Kats: How does The Killers fit into the overall strategy for booking the Colosseum?
McBurney: The Colosseum is reserved for legendary performers, whether they are up-and-coming artists like The Killers or seasoned veterans like Elton John and Rod Stewart. We are genre-agnostic when it comes to selecting artists for the venue; they just need to be the best in entertainment. When we first opened, we had Celine Dion, Elton John, and Jerry Seinfeld in a more traditional theater setting.
Kats: The recent upgrade to the theater was intended to enhance the overall guest experience, correct?
Kats: Elton John recently mentioned during his final show at Allegiant Stadium that he has performed more shows in Las Vegas than in any other city in his career, with the majority of them taking place at the Colosseum. This speaks to the enduring appeal and success of the venue.
Overall, the future looks bright for Caesars Entertainment, with a focus on delivering top-notch entertainment experiences for guests and continuing to attract iconic performers to their world-class properties. The excitement surrounding The Killers’ residency at the Colosseum is just one example of the company’s commitment to providing unforgettable entertainment options in Las Vegas.
