After several years of meticulous planning and numerous appearances before gaming regulators across the nation, BetMGM, the sports betting division of MGM Resorts International, is set to unveil a groundbreaking new feature that sets it apart from all other sports betting apps in Nevada.
Starting on Wednesday, BetMGM customers will have the ability to seamlessly wager from a single digital wallet in any state where MGM operates. This means that players registered in Nevada can easily transition to Arizona and place bets from their accounts upon registration. Similarly, those signing up in Arizona can bet in Nevada after completing the registration process in person in accordance with Nevada regulations.
Matt Prevost, the chief revenue officer of BetMGM, expressed his excitement about this innovative feature, stating that no other digital wagering app currently offers this capability. He anticipates that rival companies such as Caesars Entertainment, Circa, and Boyd Gaming will try to replicate MGM’s system.
In an exclusive interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Prevost shared, “What this does is it enables our consumers who travel in from other states to seamlessly use their wallet while they’re in Vegas. They still obviously have to go through the sign-up process on property and sign up in Nevada like always. But this connects the entire experience for them as customers. We’ve been working on this for years. And, knock on a lot of wood, we’ve received regulatory approval and the technical delivery will happen this week.”
BetMGM operates nine retail sportsbooks in Las Vegas, located at Bellagio, Aria, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, MGM Grand, Park MGM, Mandalay Bay, New York-New York, Luxor, and Excalibur. Customers must complete their registration at one of these locations after downloading the free app from Google Play for Android phones or the Apple Store.
MGM offers digital sports wagering in 29 markets across North America, including states like Arizona, Colorado, New Jersey, and Washington, as well as Canadian provinces like Ontario and territories like Puerto Rico. In 2022, MGM made history by introducing the first betting windows at sports stadiums with the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium and Major League Baseball’s Washington Nationals at Nationals Park.
The partnership between MGM and Great Britain-based Entain Plc led to the formation of BetMGM, which rolled out a redesigned mobile sports betting app in Nevada earlier this year. This updated app offers an expanded range of prop and parlay options, as well as digital deposits and withdrawals. Industry experts at Eilers & Krejcik have lauded the app as “clearly the best product in Nevada right now,” with additional product enhancements expected to enhance the BetMGM experience in time for the upcoming NFL season.
While the financial impact of this technological advancement remains uncertain, Prevost is confident that customers will embrace this first-to-market feature with enthusiasm. New customers in Nevada can take advantage of a first bet offer of up to $250 paid back in bonus bets, exclusive to the state. Existing users can explore various promotions such as parlay-boost tokens and odds boosts in the app.
Players can also earn BetMGM Rewards points and tier credits through their activity on the BetMGM Sportsbook. These rewards points can be redeemed for digital bonuses and MGM Rewards points, adding another layer of value to the overall betting experience.
