A California couple recently revealed that their intimate life has taken a major hit following a shocking incident at a popular Las Vegas Strip casino. Michael and Batia Farchi are claiming that negligence on the part of The Venetian hotel-casino led to a scorpion sting incident that has had lasting consequences for their physical and emotional well-being. The Farchis have taken legal action and filed a lawsuit in District Court against The Venetian, alleging that the hotel failed to properly address the presence of poisonous scorpions on its property.

The lawsuit, filed on Aug. 27, accuses The Venetian resort of neglecting to take necessary precautions to eradicate the dangerous creatures, despite allegedly being aware of their presence. According to court documents, Michael Farchi, 62, was stung by a scorpion in his groin and hand while he was sleeping on Dec. 26, 2020. The aftermath of the incident has left him dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and erectile dysfunction. His wife, Batia Farchi, has also experienced emotional distress, including what the suit describes as “loss of consortium.”

The Farchis are seeking compensation for medical expenses as well as general and punitive damages. The lawsuit claims that The Venetian did not respond to the incident appropriately, with hotel staff allegedly laughing at Michael Farchi instead of providing assistance. After seeking medical attention at Summerlin Hospital, Farchi underwent further treatment at UCLA Medical Center upon returning home to California.

The lawsuit also alleges that The Venetian, which is owned and operated by New York-based Apollo Global Management, had prior knowledge of scorpion infestations on the property but chose not to address the issue. Despite undergoing a massive $1.5 billion renovation, The Venetian is facing scrutiny over its handling of the scorpion problem.

The first phase of the Venetian Expo Center renovation was recently unveiled, showcasing updated suites in both The Venetian and Palazzo hotels. As the legal battle between the Farchis and The Venetian unfolds, questions remain about the hotel’s responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of its guests. The Farchis’ story serves as a reminder of the unexpected dangers that can lurk in even the most luxurious of destinations.

Despite repeated requests for comment, The Venetian has remained silent on the matter. Journalist David Danzis can be reached at ddanzis@reviewjournal.com for further inquiries and updates on the case. Follow AC_Danzis on X for additional coverage of this ongoing lawsuit.
