The grand unveiling of the first phase of a $188 million renovation to the Convention Center at The Venetian hotel-casino was a luxurious affair, with invited guests and property VIPs coming together to celebrate the occasion.

This renovation is just one part of a massive $1.5 billion reinvestment plan at The Venetian, which is taking place over several years. The sprawling 2.25-million-square-foot Convention and Expo Center at The Venetian is currently undergoing a makeover, with the entire project slated for completion by 2026.

During a TED Talk-style forum held at the 85,000-square-foot Venetian Ballroom, Patrick Nichols, the president and CEO of The Venetian, and Tony Yousfi, the chief marketing officer, shared insights into the vision behind the renovation. Nichols highlighted that The Venetian, which will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2024, was the first casino-resort on the Strip designed with a focus on conventions and conferences.

“Meetings have always been in The Venetian’s DNA,” Nichols explained to the audience of around 200 attendees. “So why now? We’ve always been the market leader in conventions, and, frankly, our space needed to be a little bit updated.”

The newly renovated Convention Center features a striking dark blue and cream color palette on the lower level, in contrast to the more traditional red, orange, and yellow tones found on the upper floors. The space has also been upgraded with cutting-edge technology, including a large digital messaging board, LED lighting, and improved digital connectivity.

Nichols emphasized that the renovation was centered around the customer experience, with every detail meticulously planned to make events truly memorable. Yousfi echoed this sentiment, describing the two-year project as “exciting,” “fun,” and “challenging,” ultimately resulting in a fresh and classy space.

“We wanted to build something that’s different, something that stands out from the competition,” Yousfi declared confidently. “Here at The Venetian, group business is at the core of everything we do. It’s not just a segment; it’s our foundation.”

In addition to the Convention Center renovation, the $1.5 billion reinvestment project includes plans to update nearly 4,000 suites at The Venetian and introduce several new restaurants. Gaming offerings are also getting a boost, with a new high-limit slot room and a recently opened poker room in the Grand Canal Shoppes.

With these ambitious renovations and enhancements, The Venetian is poised to maintain its status as a premier destination for conventions, events, and luxury hospitality on the Las Vegas Strip.
